The Local Dollar was founded by Mac Brydon, the owner of a small gourmet food company in Matthews, North Carolina called Bear Food. While growing his brand, he struggled, just like many other small business owners, to find different ways to grow his company and new potential business. After multiple failed attempts to try and out advertise the big guys, losing thousands of dollars for minimal returns, and even being manipulated by advertising firms, he decided to develop a new company that finally gave the small guys a chance. A website that connected communites together with local hard working families. Hence, The Local Dollar!

How Does it Work?

So how does it work? Glad you asked! Every small business we partner with develops a profile to present their brand, their story, and offer an attractive monthly coupon to the community. Then with our location finder, consumers are able to search different areas, discover these businesses, and purchase amazing deals for only $1. Now you can shop local and support those near you for at a bargain!

Our Why

The goal of The Local Dollar is for communities to be able to learn more about the small businesses around them and to allow these local businesses to advertise and grow their companies at a fraction of the cost of normal advertising routes. According to most data, start-up and microbusinesses spend roughly 7% of their revenue on advertising, most of the time even less. Large companies spend almost 14%, doubling the smaller businesses with an exponential amount of more revenue to work with!

We knew that their had to be a way to bridge the gap for so many amazing small businesses that simply didn't have an affordable way to get their brand out there. The local deli that you didn't even know existed. The coffee shop that's tucked away trying to compete with the 3 chain coffee shops on the same road. The boutique with beautiful handcrafted products trying to survive in the day and age of online shopping. Hardworking entreprenuers breaking against the mold. This is our why.
